Kung Fu
Kung Fu
In the vanguard of the new-funk movement, KUNG FU is quickly popularizing their unique sonic contribution “NU-SION”, blurring the line between intense electro-fusion, and blistering dance arrangements. Making funk fusion music “cool” again, the band draws on influences such as early Headhunters, Weather Report, & Mahavishnu Orchestra, and merges those ideas with technical fireworks and a contemporary EDM informed sensibility. The ensemble, a seasoned pedigree that reads like a late-night summer festival all-star jam has been described by critics and fans of Galactic & Umphrey’s McGee alike as “lethal funk”, “explosive”, “jaw dropping”, and “musically mesmerizing”. For the uninitiated, the experience is typically shocking yet the focus is simple: ENTER THE DRAGON!

Kung Fu features Tim Palmieri on guitar (The Breakfast), Robert Somerville on tenor sax (Deep Banana Blackout), Beau Sasser on Keyboards (Alan Evans Trio, Ryan Montbleau, The Z3, Beau Sasser’s Escape Plan), Christopher DeAngelis on bass guitar (The Breakfast) and Adrian Tramontano on drums/percussion (The Breakfast).
Hayley Jane and the Primates
Hayley Jane and the Primates
Hayley Jane and the Primates deliver a genre-bending sound that is hard to define and a live performance that has created a serious buzz in the Northeast and beyond. The Primates’ music draws inspiration from a variety of styles, including 60s/70s rock and pop, old musical theater, folk, blues, soul, reggae, psychedelic, funk, bluegrass, and country.

In May 2012, The Primates released their first EP entitled Color Me, which has been described as “brilliant, brave, innocent, tangled and cutting edge…genius” -Scarlet’s Picks
Their catchy songs have been praised by a wide range of music lovers for successfully combining a diverse sound with clever, over-the-top lyrics and Vaudevillian style storytelling. However you decide to categorize the Primates musically, their on-stage energy, skilled musicianship, theatrics, and group improvisation will take you over a landscape of emotion that will leave you wanting more. The Primates are mere months away from dropping their first full length album so keep your ear to the ground for new HJP releases.
Hayley Jane and the Primates recently wrapped their first tour on the west coast which kicked off at the iconicWhisky a Go Go in Hollywood, CA and ended it at Qualcomm Stadium for Monday Night Football in San Diego, CA. They traveled up the coast to Sacramento and San Francisco where they were pleasantly surprised by the packed venues and positive support. While down south in Burbank, CA, The Primates recorded their first full length album with Brian Wallace and it is currently being mixed and mastered!

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Kickstarter! We couldn’t have done it without you. And to everyone that helped, housed and supported us on tour! It was a wonderful adventure!

California native, Hayley Jane, creates her over the top lyrics and larger than life performance by mixing Vaudevillian style story telling with Americana roots. Her band of Primates are no strangers to the theater either. They have graced the stage at The Calderwood Theater, The Huntington Theater and the city of Boston has invited The Primates to perform multiple times at Boston’s Government Center and the city’s “First Night” New Years Eve celebration. Hayley Jane and the Primates continue to find ways to bring old and new together to create a unique theatrical spectacle that is certainly all their own.

“A highly original, high spirited rock group” -The Boston Arts Festival
“Hayley Jane belts heartfelt, quirky lyrics set to a crawling 1950’s jazz and blues inspired soundtrack.” – Three Dudes Music Corner
