It’s not often that you hear a perfect record. Or a record created with such honesty and energy that it makes you drop absolutely everything, listen intently, and then completely readjust your outlook on music. With an average age of 17, this Copenhagen quartet has somehow managed to redefine our perception entirely, and we love it. Uncontrived, pure – this record is a youthful assault of downer, jaw-dropping, no-wave hardcore, wise beyond it’s years. Dais/What's Your Rupture? Records.

We are three guys who are not from the Boston area, but we all ended up here. Everyone in the band comes from some music background. Joseph Boo was in numerous punk/noise bands before he settled down way up in Vermont where he was a part of the "Velvet Ovum Band" and then moving on to help create "The Magic is Gone", with long time friends Javen Leonard (of "Drowningman") Tom Goodale, Colin Clary,(who is, and or was, in too many bands to list and is a genuine rock star in all fashions and genres) and Steven Hazen Williams (of "Magogs" fame). Joe eventually moved back to Ma, in Belmont, and started writing music on his own.

Morgan Yandow attended college in VT and he was a long time part of the Burlington, VT music scene. He contributed to collaborations with various musicians in the area, adding guitar noise, synths or drums to side-projects . This is how he first met Joe of "The Magic is Gone." He later moved to MA by way of a short stint in NC. Morgan, was a "friend of a mutual friend, or group of friends" and Joe was constantly reminded that he was a total retard for not playing music with him and forming a band of their own in Boston. Eventually Morgan happened to move right down the street from Joe in Belmont, MA... Only a 5 minute walk away....it was clearly FATE and the two started writing songs together.

Morgan met Scott in the later part of the 20th century via a mutual friend while Scott was performing mixing duties with the Burlington, VT based band "Sandoze" at several live shows in the New England area. Scott later formed a band with two of the former members of "Sandoze" perched behind the drum kit; Boston based rock band "Cloud Art" and follow-up project "The Code Green."

In the Summer of 2007 Morgan contacted Scott and threw at him some demos that he and Joe had been working on. It didn't take long before the drum machine was retired, The Darker Hues formed, and and we relocated to a suitable practice space where we can make all the noise that we please and record the demos you hear on this site... Enjoy!
